The mere sound of the rain dampens my spirits, I can’t help it. Certainly in summer times. I’m a sunshine person after all.
Summer is the most glorious of seasons, as it’s the best time for a very specific kind of femininity to come out and play. Think sweltering garden parties, new encounters of the flirtatious kind, festivals and sparkling sundew.
But we must not forget this is still Belgium. On average our country gets more rainfall than the UK, that says enough.
Luckily there are a few rules that help us nail that perfect look for a dreary summer day.
Even a downpour doesn’t have to prevent you
looking your best
Choose comfortable fits that can easily be combined & layered.
Four seasons in one day, remember.
Add a dash of sunshine by means of colourful accessories and/or make-up.
Play around with the season’s key items, ripped jeans or tees for instance or military items.
Don’t hold back on soft cotton, light jeans and see-through details. They make your outfit interesting. But be careful with suede or other delicate materials as they will get ruined by a few drops of rain.
Don’t be bashful when it comes down to prints either. Create your own sunshine.
Go wild on bold hues.
Don’t go oversized as maxi dresses or skirts will drag drag on the damp ground. Keep it short(er)
Look sexy: knotted tees worn on high-wasted jeans shorts or oversized skirts will boost your look.
Accessorize. Don’t forget your sunglasses. Yes, even when it rains.
Implementing typical feminine elements like lace will keep your look elegant even if you’re wearing flat boots, a rain coat or other masculine details.
